Correios (Brazil Post), or the Brazilian Postal and Telegraph Corporation, is a company owned by the Brazilian government that has been providing national postal services since the 17th century. One of its main responsibilities is the management of the Código de Endereçamento Postal or the Brazilian postcode system. Apart from postal services, Correios also offers other services such as banking services, account payment collection, and express mail service through its e-commerce platform called CorreiosNet Shopping, Banco Postal (a fiduciary of Banco do Brasil), and Sedex, respectively. It has a vast international service network that covers over 220 countries worldwide. With over 109,000 employees, Correios is the largest employer in Brazil and has a presence in all municipalities of the country through its owned and franchised units. It operates under the authority of the Ministry of Communications as a wholly-owned company of the Brazilian Federal Government.
